Harry Styles says he is “devastated” and “heartbroken” following a shooting at a Copenhagen shopping center that left three people dead and four seriously injured.

The former One Direction star was due to perform at the Royal Arena in the south of the Danish capital on Sunday night as part of his Love On Tour shows.

He canceled the show after a shooter opened shoot within a mile of the siteapparently selecting his victims at random and acting alone, according to Copenhagen Chief Inspector Soren Thomassen.

Large crowds had already gathered inside the arena when the show’s cancellation was announced, and fans had to be asked to leave.

Harry’s message to fans

Styles tweeted to his 37.9 million followers: “I am heartbroken with the people of Copenhagen. I love this city. The people are so warm and full of love.

“I am devastated for the victims, their families and all who are suffering.

“I’m sorry we couldn’t be together. Please take care of each other.”

The 28-year-old singer signed his tweet “H”.

Live Nation, Styles’ tour promoter, said in a statement: “Tonight’s concert with Harry Styles has been canceled by the Danish police.

“We are all truly devastated by today’s events and our hearts go out to the victims and their families.

“We are investigating future possibilities for the show and hope to be able to notify ticket buyers directly as soon as possible.”

Three people were killed and four are in critical condition following the attack on the Field shopping center, according to Danish police.

A 22-year-old man, who was described as an “ethnic Dane”, was arrested near the scene.

So far, officers have said his motives are unclear and there is nothing to suggest terrorism. They said he had a history of mental health issues.

The suspect will be arraigned on Monday on preliminary murder charges.

A reception with Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik, which was due to be held on the royal yacht moored at Sonderborg in southern Denmark, was also canceled following the incident.

Pearl Jam and Queen + Adam Lambert are scheduled to perform at the Copenhagen Arena in the coming weeks.

Is Love On Tour cursed?

Styles’ shows have had a number of setbacks. He was due to tour the world of his show Love On Tour in 2020 before the pandemic brought the live music industry to a standstill.

His postponed tour began in September 2021 in Las Vegas before crossing the United States, with the European tour kicking off in Glasgow in June 2022.

However, on the first day of the European leg of the tour, a fan fell from the top at Glasgow’s Ibrox Stadium during the singer’s gig, landing on other people in the crowd. No one was seriously injured.

His next show is due to take place in Paris on Tuesday.

Styles is currently dating actress and director Olivia Wilde and stars in her latest film, the psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling.
