CHAPRA: Prashant Kishor, election strategist turned political activist, who is on his’Jan Suraj Yatra‘in several districts of the state, on Monday he criticized the Center’s short term armed forces’ recruitment scheme – Agnipath, with the aim of making young people lacking better conditions of service than existing practices in the armed forces.
Speaking at a press conference a Goat under his Jan Suraj campaign, Prashant said young people are firmly opposed to changing conditions of service under the Agnipath scheme. “The reduction in length of service to four years is a cause for concern. Another concern is the non-payment of the pension,” she said.
He said his observation was in reference to questions put to him by a group of young people a Gopalganj that if the elected representatives can get the pension, then why has it been stopped for the army jawans according to the Agnipath scheme. “Although, the two issues should ideally not be linked, but there are some issues in the Agnipath scheme that aspirants have rightly opposed,” Prashant said.
Speaking on the caste census, Prashant said that parties that want to conduct the caste census in the state should also make it public, otherwise it will not be of any benefit to ordinary people. “It is more important to make the caste census public and act accordingly than to simply conduct it,” Prashant said while addressing a public meeting at the Ekma block in Saran district.
He also recalled his journey from being a public health expert at the United Nations to being a polling strategist and is now back in his homeland of Bihar.
