CHENNAI: AIADMK General council Monday gave his nod to 16 resolutions adopted by the Governing Council, including the appointment of Edappadi K Palaniswami as the interim secretary general of the party.
The GC has adopted another resolution to call for the election for the post of general secretary in four months. It abolished the post of coordinator and the post of joint coordinator.
The AIADMK the general council meeting was held in Vanagaram in Chennai after the Madras High Court rejected O Panneerselvam’s request to block it.
Previously, violence erupted at the party headquarters in Royapettah, where supporters of OPS and EPS collided when Panneerselvam got there.
EPS and OPS collided with stones, poles and knives, causing injuries to many of them. They damaged the vehicles.
The OPS entered the headquarters accompanied by police, after its supporters broke down the door of the party headquarters. He went to the balcony and waved the party flag as the violence continued.
