NEW DELHI: Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manavjeet Singh Dhillon He made it clear on Friday that he had no intention of confronting the Indian People’s Front and the RSS, and his remarks the day before were misinterpreted.
“This is not about comparing one organization to another. The meaning of my statement has been misinterpreted, which is absolutely wrong,” said Dhillon.
The senior police officer’s clarification came the day after Bihar police issued him a show lawsuit notice and demanded a response within 24 hours.
The day before, addressing the media about a suspected terrorist module arrested in Patna, Dhillon said: “The organization (PFI) works to mobilize young people and radicalize them. The modus operandi is similar to that of RSS ‘shakhas’ (branches) where training in lathi is given. They would call them for physical training, but also for brainwashing and radicalizing them, “Singh said.
“We have documents stating that in the PFI camps, martial arts and other training is given to members to use sticks and swords,” he told reporters.
His remarks drew criticism from multiple quarters, with several BJP lawmakers asking for an apology from him.
On Thursday, five people were arrested in Patna for engaging in anti-national activities following raids in the Phulwari Sharif area, which also led to the retrieval of several incriminating documents, including PFI’s “Mission 2047”.
