For the uninitiated, “Ippon” is the highest score a fighter can get in a bout. It can be scored for a pull, pin, choke, or joint lock.
The “Ippon” meant that Tulika didn’t get a second chance in the match, despite being in the lead for most of the 3 minutes and 29 seconds of the match.
After the opening exchanges were neutral, Tulika weaves and sways to keep Adlington at bay and then in a flash applied the ‘Waza‘on his opponent who unbalanced the Scotsman. ‘Waza’ is a throwing technique that tries to throw an opponent off balance and throw him on the mat.

Tulika’s lead was a complete surprise to the more experienced Adlington. Subsequently, Tulika played a defensive match, relying more on counter-attacks. However, the strategy came to harm the Indian judoka as she was penalized twice for being defensive in her approach. Eventually, Adlington managed to secure the all-important pin-down.
Tulika had started her 2022 CWG campaign with a direct victory (by Ippon) over Tracy Durhone of Mauritius in a match lasting 2 minutes and 53 seconds. In his semifinal against Sydnee Andrews of New Zealand, performed even better, taking exactly one minute less to record Ippon’s victory again.

Tulika, whose father was murdered when she was only two, and was raised by her mother who is now an ASI in the Delhi police, remained inconsolable after the loss. Backstage, her tears flowed as Indian judo head coach Jiwan Kumar Sharma tried to comfort her.
This is India’s third medal in judo at CWG 2022. Shushila Devi Likbam And Vikas Yadav he had won silver and bronze respectively on Monday.
