On CWG medallist’s ‘didn’t receive help’ allegation, Delhi government says will look into it | More sports News

NEW DELHI: bronze medalist at the Commonwealth Games wrestler Divya Kakran Sunday alleged that she never received any help from the Delhi Government whereupon the AAP waiver said that if she had already applied for any of its athletic programs, it would be considered.
Kakran won the bronze medal in the women’s 68kg category at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal congratulated her for winning laurels for the country.
‘I thank Delhi CM for congratulating me on my medal. I have a request that I have been living in Delhi for 20 years and also trained in struggle here, but I haven’t received any cash prizes from the state government, and I haven’t received any assistance,” Kakran tweeted, tagging Kejriwal.

“I request that I also be honored in the same way as wrestlers in Delhi who are honored although they also perform in other states,” Kakran said in another.
Responding to the remarks, the AAP government said in a statement: “The Delhi government respects all sportsmen in the country and prays for their bright future.”
“Currently, Divya Kakran is playing for Uttar Pradesh. If she had been playing from Delhi or if she had been part of any government sports program or if she had applied for such a program, the government would surely consider her,” said he declared.
