Four Pakistani soldiers killed in suicide bombing in North Waziristan district


PESHAWAR/ISLAMABAD: At least four Pakistani soldiers have been killed and seven others injured in a suicide bombing in the restive region’s North Waziristan tribal district Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military’s media affairs branch said Tuesday.
A three-wheeled rickshaw rammed the security forces vehicle near the Pattasi checkpoint in the district’s Mir Ali tehsil area, killing four soldiers and injuring seven, including two civilians, on Monday, the Inter- Pakistan Public Relations Services (ISPR) said.
The seven injured included three sepoys, two naik enlisted soldiers and two civilians, according to a statement released by the ISPR.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, expressing his sorrow over the suicide bombing, reiterated the nation’s firm determination to eradicate the threat of terrorism.
Denouncing the attack, he said the terrorists would not be allowed to carry out their sordid designs.
Recently, there has been an upsurge in attacks on security forces by militants in tribal districts despite a ceasefire initiated by Tehreek-Taliban Pakistan.
On July 4, at least 10 security personnel were injured when a suicide bomber attacked a security force convoy in the area.
