Rapper Fetty Wap Jailed For Threatening To Kill A Man During A FaceTime Call | Entities and news on the arts

Rapper Fetty Wap was jailed for threatening to kill a man during a FaceTime call in 2021, violating the terms of his preliminary release in a pending drug conspiracy case.

The musician, whose real name is Willie Junior Maxwell II, pointed a gun at the man during a video call on December 11 and said, “I’ll kill you and anyone you want to go with.”

The incident occurred about two months after he was arrested in the federal drug case, prosecutors said.

During a federal court hearing in Long Island, New York on Monday, Judge Steven Locke revoked his bail and sent him to jail.

Maxwell’s attorney was contacted for comment by the Associated Press.

He was initially arrested in October 2021 on suspicion of participating in a conspiracy to smuggle heroin, fentanyl and other drugs into New York City.

He filed a not guilty plea and was released after posting a $ 500,000 (£ 413,000) bond, secured by a property he owns in Georgia.

The arrest took place just two months after him confirmed that her four-year-old daughter Lauren was dead.

As part of the bail agreement, he agreed to certain conditions, including not violating any federal, state or local laws during release and not owning a pistol or other weapons.

Prosecutors said the evidence, including a recording of the FaceTime call, showed a probable cause that he was knowingly violating the conditions.

During the call, the 31-year-old repeatedly threatened “I’ll kill you” and was seen pointing a gun at the screen, according to the FBI affidavit.

In response to the man’s call telling Maxwell he was a rat, Maxwell said “Your man is a rat,” according to court documents.

In the drug case, the New Jersey-born rapper and five co-defendants are accused of conspiring to possess and distribute over 100 kg (200 lbs) of heroin, fentanyl and crack between June 2019 and June 2020.

According to prosecutors, the scheme involved using the United States Postal Service and cars with hidden compartments to move the drugs from the West Coast to Long Island, where they were held for distribution to dealers in Long Island and New Jersey.

The rapper’s debut single, Trap Queen, brought Maxwell to fame, ranking number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 in May 2015.

According to his website, he was due to perform in Mobile, Alabama on August 19 and in Austin, Texas on August 27.

In 2019 he was arrested in Las Vegas on suspicion of assaulting three employees at a hotel casino, and was also arrested in November 2017 and charged with drunk driving after police said he was racing on a New York City freeway.
