Rafael Nadal confirms he will compete at Cincinnati | Tennis News

Rafael Nadal confirmed on Wednesday that he will participate next week Cincinnati Open after being forced out of the current Canadian Open due to an abdominal injury.
The world number three pulled out of the US Open tune-up event in Montreal with the same strain that limited his service movement and forced him to forfeit his Wimbledon semi-final the month last.
“(Flight) tomorrow to Cincinnati,” the Spaniard posted alongside a photo of himself shirtless and smiling. “Very happy to play Cincy again.”

Nadal, who has won a men’s record 22 major titles, will be the only one to tennis‘ Big Three in the hard-court tournament draw as rivals Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic will both miss out.
Federer is still in rehab after undergoing knee surgery while Wimbledon champion Djokovic is unable to compete in North American tournaments due to his refusal to get a COVID-19 vaccine, which prevents him to enter both countries.
