Politico reported Friday that the Biden administration has cleared $ 775 million in additional security assistance for Ukraine which will include new drones, armored vehicles and artillery as the US predicts Kiev will see tough fighting on the ground in the coming weeks.

“For the first time, the United States is sending 15 ScanEagle surveillance drones to help Ukrainians locate and correct precision artillery and missile strikes that have strained Russian forces, blocking their progress,” according to Politico. “The small drones can be moved around the battlefield relatively easily and would be invaluable in the expected push to recapture the city of Kherson in the south.”

Ahead of the Defense Department’s official announcement, a source told Politico that the US also plans to send “Excalibur precision-guided artillery ammunition in an upcoming tranche in the future.”
