EPL: Man City fight back for thrilling 3-3 draw at Newcastle | Football News

NEWCASTLE: Quick goals from Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva helped Manchester City bounce back from two goals to draw 3-3 with Newcastle United in heartbreak premier league clash at St James’ Park on Sunday.
Neither team had conceded a league goal this season, but Ilkay Gundogan opened the scoring for champions City in the fifth minute, snuck in and caught Newcastle’s defense flat-footed before finishing from close range.
As it happened: Newcastle United v Manchester City
City should have taken two in the 16th minute when Phil Foden attacked on the right, but he opted to shoot from a tight angle rather than give the ball to Haaland and the chance was wasted.
The home team equalized Miguel Almiron in the 28th minute as he sent an accurate cross from Allan Saint-Maximin into the net before suffering a nervous VAR check which allowed the goal to stand.
Saint-Maximin tormented City full-back Kyle Walker and he put Newcastle in a position to cause a huge upset when he set up Callum Wilson to make it 2-1 before halftime.

A great free kick from Kieran Trippier nine minutes after the break, led them 3-1.
It did, however, breathe life into City, with Haaland hitting a post before scoring on the hour mark and Silva converting a glorious pass from Kevin De Bruyne to make 3-3.
Newcastle’s challenge looked set to come undone when Trippier was shown a straight red card for a cynical trip on De Bruyne, but after a VAR review the decision was overturned and he was given a yellow.
City dominated possession in the closing stages but had to settle for a draw which left them second in the table with seven points, two behind leaders Arsenal. Newcastle are sixth with five points.
