BWF World Championships: Kapila-Arjun cruise into quarterfinals | Badminton News


TOKYO: The Indian pair of Dhruv in men’s doubles Kapila and Mr Arjun reached the quarter-finals with a win from behind over Terry Hee and Loh Kean Hean at the World Championships here on Thursday.
The unseeded Indian duo had to work hard for 58 minutes to win their round of 16 win over the Singaporeans 18-21 21-15 21-16.
Arjun and Kapila will cross swords with the third seeded Indonesian pair Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan in the last eight stages.
Both had a good run in the tournament. They edged eighth seeds and last edition bronze medalists Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark 21-17 21-16 in their second-round match.
Later in the day, Saina Nehwal and the men’s doubles duo of Satwiksairaj Rankeyreddy and Chirag Shetty will play their pre-quarter-finals, while Lakshya Sen and HS Prannoy will face off in an all-India last 16 match clash.
