Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid applauded the Biden administration after US airstrikes targeted “Iran-related” positions overnight in Syria.
“We welcome the US attacks on Iranian Revolutionary Guards in Syria,” Lapid told Fox News. “The US attacks last night are an important step in the fight against terrorism.”
American military action came in response to drone strikes against a base hosting US troops.
The US Central Command said in a statement that “the attacks demonstrate our determination to defend US forces and equipment.”

Speaking in Jerusalem this morning, Lapid stressed that easing sanctions could lead directly to funding Hezbollah and other Iranian delegates.
“There is a bad deal on the table right now. It would give Iran $ 100 billion a year,” Lapid said. “It will fund more attacks on US bases in the Middle East.”
US officials responded today to Iranian comments on the JCPOA negotiations and that response is currently under review in Tehran, according to the Iranian foreign ministry.

After the exchange of technical details, another meeting of the Joint Committee overseeing the discussions is scheduled for next week.

All sides appear to be making concessions, with Iran no longer requiring its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to be removed from the US list of foreign terrorist organizations.
“We have made clear our opposition to the removal of the IRGC from the list of foreign terrorists precisely because of their terrorist activities in the Middle East and beyond,” Lapid told Fox News.
