Sonali Phogat death case: Interior Ministry recommends CBI investigation | Goa News

NEW DELHI / GOA: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation into BJP leader’s death recommended Sonali Phogat Monday from the Union Interior Ministry, reports said.
Phogat (43), the leader of Hisar’s BJP in Haryana, died in Goa in the night between 22 and 23 August.
The Interior Ministry has asked the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) to have the case examined by the CBI, PTI said, citing an official with knowledge of the development.

The CBI works under the administrative control of the DoPT.
The development comes after Goa Prime Minister Pramod Sawant wrote to Union Interior Minister Amit Shah asking for an investigation by the central agency.
Sonali Phogat’s family had also met with Haryana Manohar Prime Minister Lal Khattar in connection with the case and asked for a CBI probe.
However, Sawant said that the Goa police conducted an “extraordinarily good investigation” into the case and also obtained some clues, adding: “But due to the request of people from Haryana and also from Sonali Phogat’s daughter, we have decided to write to the ministry of the moment of the Union to hand over this case to the CBI “.
