Man Stops Police and Confesses to Murder in Arizona | News from the United States



A 52-year-old American stopped a police car and confessed to the murder.

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Jay Albert Stevens greeted the officer in the middle of Central Highway in southern Arizona at 1am Thursday morning.

When the deputy questioned Stevens, he confessed to shooting and killing another 61-year-old man.

Stevens then led the deputy to the site of the body.

The Sheriff’s Office posted a statement on Facebook stating: “On Thursday, September 8, 2022 at approximately 1:00 am, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Deputy observed a male in the middle of the carriageway on Central Highway and Sage Lane near McNeal.

“The male subject gave up the deputy and when the male subject was asked if he was okay, the male subject said he just shot and killed someone.

“After receiving further details from the male subject, he indicated that he did not have the address of the place where the incident occurred, but was able to lead the officers to a resident (sic) where a 61-year-old man is been found dead “.

He was placed in pre-trial detention at Cochise County Jail and charged with first degree murder.

The sheriff’s office is conducting an investigation into the murder.
