The victory of Sri Lanka’s Asian Cup 2022 is an emotion. From losing the chance to host the tournament due to the economic crisis to losing the first match against Afghanistan, the new champions were far from being the favorites to lift the trophy. But they did, in a sensational breakthrough match and won their sixth Asian Cup title. They beat Pakistan by 23 runs to take home the prize. Pakistan pitched first and led the top ten overs. But Bhanuka Rajapaksa turned the tide for Sri Lanka, scoring 71 unbeaten points on 51 balls and bringing his team to a total of 170/6. Pramod Madushan went on to take four wickets. This is the sixth time that Sri Lanka have won the Asian Cup, one behind India’s record of 7. It was a spectacular moment when the Sri Lankan team lifted the winning trophy in Dubai.
