Two Windsor Police officers in Windsor, Ontario are accused of misconduct after allegedly donating $ 50 or less to Canadian truckers’ Freedom Convoy which attracted international attention earlier this year.
Agents Jason Michael Brisco and Brooke Fazekas were charged with discreditable conduct under the Ontario Police Services Act in response to allegations that the couple donated $ 50 and $ 40 to the convoy respectively, according to the Windsor Star. Brisco appeared for a hearing on Zoom on Monday.
The names of Brisco and Fazekas would appear on a list of convoys donors that was hacked and leaked last winter.
The convoy, which has been protesting national vaccination mandates for weeks by blocking traffic in the Canadian capital Ottawa, has also blocked major US-Canadian border crossings, including the Ambassador Bridge, which connects Windsor, Ontario, to Detroit, Michigan.

In a message attached to his alleged donation, Brisco thanked his fellow Canadians “for fighting for freedom at the base of the Tower of Sauron”, a reference to the disembodied source of evil and oppression in the “Lord of the Rings” novels. by JRR Tolkien.
After the Windsor Police Service’s Professional Standards Branch conducted an investigation, the department also punished a civilian employee with a one-day suspension without pay.
In a statement provided to Fox News Digital, Deputy Chief Frank Providenti said: “Windsor police condemn the actions of two sworn members and a civilian employee who made donations to support the Freedom Convoy which blocked access to the Ambassador Bridge earlier this year “.

“We hold our members to the highest standards of conduct and those who do not uphold these principles must be held accountable for their behavior,” the deputy chief continued.
“By choosing to support an illegal blockade at our country’s busiest border crossing, these members showed complete disregard for our city’s economy and reputation, as well as the safety of their colleagues who were facing the volatile situation,” Providenti added.
