India win bronze in ISSF World Championship | More sports News


CAIRO: India has started its ISSF World Championship campaign with a bronze medal in the women’s junior team 25m pistol competition here on Thursday.
The trio of Esha SinghNaamya Kapoor and Vibhuti Bhatia demolished the Germany team 17-1 in the bronze medal match to put India on the medal count on the first day of competition.
Esha, Naamya and Vibhuti finished fourth in the first qualifying round with a score of 856 to advance to the next stage in third position. In the next round they shot 437 to finish behind the Germans in fourth place to advance to the bronze medal game. China won gold in this event while Korea won silver.

In other results for the day, Nishchal shot 616.9 and Nupur Kumrawat 606.6 to finish eighth and 34th respectively in the junior women’s 50m prone rifle competition.
In the corresponding junior men’s event, Surya Pratap Singh (608.7) finished 13th, Pankaj Mukheja (608.5) 14th, Single hard (606.0) 20th while Adrian Karmakar (603.7) finished in 27th place.
In the junior mixed team 50m rifle prone competition, two Indian pairs reached the second stage by finishing in the top eight of the first qualifying stage among 17 teams.
Surya Pratap Singh and Nishchal shot 619.1 to finish second in the stage while Nupur Kumrawat and Pankaj Mukheja shot a total of 612.4 to finish seventh.
