Premier League: Super Salah ignites Liverpool season as Man City lose for first time | Football News

LIVERPOOL: A superb goal in the second half of Mohammad Salah earned Liverpool a 1-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday as the champions lost their early game unbeaten premier league season in a heated thriller that saw home coach Jurgen Klopp shown a red card.
After an opening period that fell short of the match’s blockbuster billing, the second half began at a ferocious pace, with the Egypt international salah denied by a superb save from City goalkeeper Ederson moments after the break.
City then believed they had taken the lead through Phil Foden in the 53rd minute, sparking wild celebrations on City’s bench, only to have him sent off following a VAR review Erling Haaland deemed to have fouled Fabinho in the preparation.
Liverpool made the most of their reprieve and continued to come to City, the pressure eventually paying off as Salah escaped after Joao Cancelo erred to dismiss what turned out to be the winner on 14 minutes of the end.
As City threw everything at Liverpool late, tensions boiled over with Klopp sent to the stands for his overzealous protests over a foul he felt his side should have had. The visitors missed the finishing pass at the end as Liverpool held on to just their third league win of the season to move up to eighth in the table on 13 points, 10 behind second-placed City, who trail Arsenal by four points . .
