A humble product survived the UK’s last prime minister.

British Prime Minister Liz Truss stepped down Thursday after less than two months in office due to pressure following an economic policy reversal that led to economic instability.

The Daily Star newspaper took the opportunity to celebrate: The outlet streamed a store-bought head of lettuce via their website and challenged Truss to last longer than the slowly wilting vegetable.

Truss announced her resignation the day after defiantly declaring that she was “a fighter and not a quitter.”

Eventually, however, he said circumstances changed.

The Daily Star and her head of lettuce supported the news of Truss’s resignation, turning on bright lights and blasting upbeat music.

The lettuce – dressed in a blonde wig with googly hands and eyes – sports a big smile and is now surrounded by celebratory booze.

The Daily Star promises the lettuce chief will “address the nation” later on Thursday about his victory.
