Man found guilty of killing six people in car attack during Christmas parade near Milwaukee | News from the United States

A man was found guilty of killing six people while driving his car in a Christmas parade near Milwaukee last year.

Darrell Brooks faced 77 charges, including six for murder, related to the November 21 attack on Waukesha, about 15 miles from downtown Milwaukee in the US state of Wisconsin.

Dozens were injured in the accident.

Brooks initially pleaded guilty to mental illness, but withdrew that plea in September.

The following month he fired his lawyers and started representing himself.

He claimed that the vehicle had a throttle malfunction and that he had no intention of injuring anyone and had honked the horn to warn bystanders.

Prosecutors said Brooks had fled in the SUV after an argument with his girlfriend, but they didn’t know why he had entered the parade if not infuriated.
