GHAZIABAD: The son of a retired Delhi police inspector was beaten to death with brick blows to the head outside a restaurant in Ghaziabad after two groups clashed in what witnesses described as “extreme drunken rage.” “for the way two cars were parked on Tuesday night.
Police said Arun Singh, 35, had gone to a dhaba on Loni Road a Tila Mor with two of his friends – Deepak (32) and Sanjay Rawat (33) – the day after Diwali.

Arun is believed to have returned to inquire about the owner of the car, leading to a heated exchange, which began with swearing and quickly escalated outside the restaurant. Police said they have identified one of the defendants, residing in Loni, who is on the run. They are investigating how many others are involved. Horrifying images of the brawl captured by a passerby show the attacker, in a yellow shirt and shorts, standing on top of Arun and hitting him, the two cars parked right in front of them. Arun is seen lying motionless on the ground. Police could not confirm whether this man was the owner of the car parked next to Arun’s.
During the incident, Arun’s friends allegedly hid in a corner and did not intervene. Arun’s family called Deepak and Sanjay in their complaint, accusing them of escaping the crime scene and not helping Arun in the hospital. Police said they were both arrested.
SP (city-2) Gyanendra Singh told TOI that he was informed of the incident at around 9:15 pm on Tuesday. The policemen arrived at the scene with his family and took Arun to the GTB hospital in Delhi, where he was pronounced dead. Tila Mor is close to the Delhi border.
The SP claimed Arun was the son of Kanwarpal Singh, who retired from his post as Delhi police inspector in March 2021. The family lives in Jawali village, Ghaziabad. “Initial investigations found that Arun had gone with his two friends to Jagdamba & Bihari dhaba near Hobs Kitchen. After the meal, when Arun and his friends were leaving, they saw that another vehicle was parked next to their Santro and not. they could open the door. Arun called the owner of the car with the help of a restaurant staff and this sparked an argument. Soon a fight started, after which the defendant took a brick and smashed it on the Arun’s head, “the SP said.
An eyewitness said he was working on the dhaba when the staff overheard an argument and ran outside. “We have seen some men fight. Some of them vandalized the car of the man attacked with bricks. One of the men smashed a brick on the victim’s head. After that, they fled in their car, ”said the dhaba worker, who asked not to be named.
Another worker said both groups were drunk and the brawl began after one of them abused the other. “They were all drunk … Later, they started arguing with each other,” he said.
Arun’s father, Kanwarpal, told TOI that he received a call from Deepak around 9pm. “When my younger brother and other family members arrived on the scene, my son was lying in a pool of blood on the road. His friends weren’t there; nor did they take him to the hospital. We suspect their role in the case and that’s why we filed a complaint against them as well, “Kanwarpal said.
Police claimed to have registered a FIR against Deepak, Sanjay and unidentified defendants under sections 302 (homicide) and 427 (evil that caused harm) of the IPC. “We broke into the home of an accused in the city, but he is fleeing,” said Bhuvneshwar Kumar, SHO of the Tila Mor Police Station.
“We arrested Deepak and Sanjay. Five teams have been formed to identify the other accused and capture them, “the SP said, adding that the autopsy report is awaited.
