United States: 4 people disgusted by an apparent gas leak at Los Angeles airport


LOS ANGELES: Four people were sickened by a release of carbon dioxide in a baggage area at Los Angeles International Airport on Monday morning, authorities said. One person was in serious condition and three were in mild distress, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey said in a statement that the information was preliminary. There was no information about their identity.
The source of the gas in Terminal 8’s baggage area was “unspecified”, according to the statement.
“Although no escalating or off-site hazards have been identified, an LAFD hazardous materials team has been assigned per protocol,” he said.
The airport tweeted that Terminal 8 was being cleared of passengers due to an apparent gas leakand passengers were sent to Terminal 7 for screening.
The terminal serves United Airlines and United Express, according to the airport’s website.
