T20 World Cup Final, Pakistan vs England: If we win tomorrow, it could inspire English football team in World Cup, says Jos Buttler | Cricket News

MELBOURNE: England’s Jos Buttler would be a proud skipper if his men could win the T20 World Cup final against Pakistan on Sunday and inspire their football counterparts to stage an encore in Doha next month.
Buttler, a champion batsman, led his side to the top clash in his first world encounter as England skipper.
When asked if the football team could take inspiration from the cricket team, the soft-spoken skipper replied: “Yeah, I hope so.”
“Sport is such an important part of English culture, and being behind teams at World Cups is certainly something that happens a lot in England.

“Even though we’re halfway around the world, you can definitely feel that support,” Buttler said on the eve of the final against Pakistan.
England are partnered with Iran, Wales and the United States in Group B of the FIFA World Cup.
“The images you see from the Euros, obviously nothing will rival football in our country. Of course the game will be shown on free-to-air TV, which is fantastic, will bring a new look to the game,” said the skipper-keeper.
Buttler doesn’t think people will be watching on the big screen in Trafalgar Square at 8am British Standard Time, but the TVs will be on as there is renewed interest in cricket following their 2019 World Cup victory.
“We saw the benefits of that in 2019 with some of the images of people watching that game and Trafalgar Square being packed and all that.

“I’m not sure they’ll be up at 8 a.m. to go to Trafalgar Square, but I’m sure there will be plenty at home to wish us well, as we do for other teams. you mentioned who also have big games ahead of them.”
SOME PAKISTANI PACERS WILL BE FUTURE GREAT
Much like a wise captain, Buttler praised the Pakistani point guards, calling them future great potential.
“Obviously Pakistan are a fantastic team. I think they have a very long history of producing great, fast bowlers.
“I’m sure that at the end of their careers some of the guys we play against will fall among the best bowlers Pakistan has produced. That’s a big part of why they go to a World Cup final. world.”
Having played Pakistan in a seven-game away series, Buttler is aware of the challenges.

“We’re expecting a really tough challenge, as mentioned before. They’re a team we’ve seen a lot of in the recent past, and we’ve had some brilliant games against them, played in a fantastic spirit, and I’m sure tomorrow will be no different,” he said.
Buttler is very fond of team meetings in which he tries to send a few messages depending on the mood of the group.
“But the constant message is always to take the game. It’s something that we pride ourselves on as a group. We have to try to play with a level of freedom and allow ourselves to express the enormous amount of talent that we have as a group.”
