MANCHESTER: Brentford striker Ivan Toney struck twice to give his side a shock 2-1 victory over champions Manchester City on Saturday in their final premier league match before the World Cup break.
Toney, left out of the England squad for Qatar, enjoyed a brilliant start from Brentford, breaking the deadlock in the 16th minute when Ben Mee came back through the box and Toney sent a header in loop over Ederson and into the net.
City shouted loudly for a penalty disallowed for a handball before equalizing on the stroke of half-time when Kevin De Bruyne’s corner kicked in and Phil Foden drilled a superb half-volley for his eighth league goal of the season.

City piled up chances to score in the second half but Toney fired home to complete a stoppage time counterattack and secure a stunning win for Brentford.
City remained second in the table with 32 points, two behind leaders Arsenal who face Wolverhampton Wanderers later on Saturday. Brentford are 10th with 19 points.
