PUNE: Pirates of Patna and Tamil Thalaivas played out a thrilling 33-33 tie at the Kabaddi Pro League Wednesday.
While raider Narender became Thalaivas’ best player with 16 points, raider Sachin scored 14 points for the Pirates.
Both teams were tied at 5-5 in the fifth minute. However, the Thalaivas attacked Sachin soon after and took the lead at 7-5. But Pirates all-rounder Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh also showed great form and helped his side level the score at 7-7.
Subsequently, Chiyaneh attacked Ajinkya Pawar and Narender in quick succession as the Pirates took a 10-8 lead in the 12th minute.
However, Ajinkya Pawar got going and picked up a flurry of raid points to help Thalaivas put their nose in front at 13-12 in the 18th minute. But Pirates’ Sachin fired the momentum for his side with a few raid points as the Patna side inflicted an all-out at half-time to take a massive 20-14 lead.
Narender made a few raid points in the opening minutes of the second half, but the Pirates still held the lead at 23-17 by the 26th minute. However, Narender continued to shine as he caught Neeraj Kumar and Chiyaneh to help Thalaivas close to the Pirates score at 22-25.
But Sachin caught Himanshu Singh soon after to ensure the Pirates continued to have a 27-22 stronghold in the 30th minute.
However, the Thalaivas kept fighting and eventually pulled it all together to level the scores at 30-30 in the 37th minute.
Rohit Gulia and Sachin raided to help the Pirates take another 33-31 lead. But moments later, the Tamil Nadu team tackled Gulia and tied the score at 33-33. Afterwards, both teams played it safe and were happy to settle for a tie.
