Pakistan-based wanted terrorist Rinda dies in Lahore hospital


CHANDIGARH: Harvinder Singh, fearsome gangster turned terrorist based in Pakistan Rinda (35) died Saturday, in a hospital in Lahore, allegedly due to a “drug overdose”.
According to intelligence sources, Rinda was admitted to a hospital in Lahore on Monday due to his kidney disease. Rinda, who had the support of the Pakistani ISI, was allegedly involved in cases of terrorism and targeted killings in Punjab. He allegedly sent sophisticated weapons, drugs, tiffin bombs and funds across the border to interstate gangs operating in Punjab. Police say he used to recruit unemployed and gullible youths, mostly from Punjab and Haryana, to unleash terror and targeted killings on Indian soil.
Rinda had also been associated with the terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). Rinda, who was previously active in Punjab, Chandigarh, Maharashtra and Haryana, is a history leafer and wanted by police for at least 24 heinous crimes including murder, contract killing, robbery and extortion.
Part of the Tarn Taran district in Punjab, Rinda had moved to Chandigarh before entering the world of crime. It was on Rinda’s instructions on the night of November 7, 2021, mobsters threw a hand grenade at the CIA office in Nawanshahr with the intention of killing cops. But the police escaped unscathed. on November 11, 2016, Rinda and her accomplices shot dead a rival gangster, Vivek Sharma, in Ropar. On April 10, 2018, Rinda and his accomplices allegedly killed Satnam Singh, sarpanch of Khurd village in Hoshiarpur district, outside a gurdwara in Sector 38 West, Chandigarh.
Rinda had colluded with a henchman Lakhbir Singh Landa, a Canadian-based mobster, to sow terror in Punjab. Dreaded gangster arrested Laurent Bishnoiwho is in custody, is also related to Rinda.
