Kanye West returns to Twitter with ‘shalom’ post – six weeks after anti-Semitic ban | US News



Kanye West returned to Twitter with the Hebrew word “shalom” after his account was previously blocked for anti-Semitic posts.

He posted the word โ€” often translated as “peace” but also used as a greeting or goodbye โ€” with a smiley emoji Sunday night.

A few hours earlier, he had tweeted: “Testing Testing Seeing if my Twitter is unlocked” – with new Twitter owner Elon Musk replying: “Don’t kill what you hate. Save what you love.”

He was apparently reinstated on Twitter a few weeks later, just before the Twitter sale was finalized, Musk said at the time.

But after a few tweets in early November, west he said it was taking a “verbal fast” for 30 days as well as abstaining from alcohol, “adult films” and sex.

His last post before Sunday was November 4th.

Fans of West – also known as Ye – seemed happy to see him again after his brief absence, and his “test” tweet reached 678,000 likes in five hours.

The rapper has been dropped by many companies after his anti-Semitic posts, most notably from Adidas who ended their lucrative Yeezy sneaker deal.

While that controversy played out last month, West announced that it was buy the fringe social network Parler – a popular platform among conservatives.

Ye’s latest tweets come as Donald Trump’s Twitter account has been restored over the weekend after almost two years.

He was allowed back after Musk held an online poll of users, which the former president narrowly won.

Mr. Trump was banned in January 2021 in the wake of the US Capitol siege.

However, the former president has hinted that he won’t be posting anytime soon after creating his own social network, Truth Social.
