She wrote: “My beautiful, intelligent, fierce, incredibly talented and loving sister-in-law, Nicki Aycox Raab, passed away yesterday with my brother, Matt Raab, by her side.

“Nicki and Matt had a wonderful life together in California. She was definitely a fighter and everyone who knew her loved her.”

Her sister-in-law also posted a collection of photos of Aycox, including her with her two children and husband, and shots of professional actors from early in her career.

Aycox had been diagnosed with leukemia in 2020 and had undergone chemotherapy and stem cell transplants.

Documenting her cancer journey on Instagram, the actress shared photos and videos of her treatments, as well as enjoying hiking and yoga as she battled the disease.

Her last Instagram post, shared in March, was a short video of her singing Whitesnake’s hit Here I Go Again, with the message: “Do not attempt to sing 80s music after taking high doses of chemo.”

Best known for her role on Supernatural, Aycox played Meg Masters between 2006 and 2008.

Dark fantasy drama creator Erik Kripke paid tribute to her on Twitter, writing, “Gutted to hear that the great Nicki Aycox, our first Meg Masters, has passed away. Too young.

“She was a delight and spoke lines like honey and poison. I marvel at how she made a word as simple as ‘lackluster’ legendary.”

Actor Jim Beaver, who played Bobby Singer on the show, added, “My first episode of Supernatural was with Nicki. She was a terrific actress and a delightful colleague. I’m so sad about her passing. Sleep tight, my friend. “

Born in Hennessey, Oklahoma, Aycox loved to sing and play the piano as a child.

Early television appearances included 3rd Rock From The Sun, Boy Meets World, Ally McBeal and The X Files, as well as a recurring role on Providence.

Screen credits included a psychotic cheerleader in Jeepers Creepers 2 and a woman trying to blackmail Bruce Willis’ wealthy advertising executive in Perfect Stranger.

Other appearances included Law & Order, Dark Angel, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, The Twilight Zone, LAX, Criminal Minds and CSI: Miami.
