The government of Guadeloupe is fighting “large-scale” cyber attacks on its networks


The French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe is battling what it calls a “large-scale” cyberattack on its computer networks.

The government is working with an unidentified specialist firm to limit the aftermath of the attack as it seeks to restore its systems as soon as possible, officials said on Monday.

An announcement warning of the attack remained posted on the main government website on Tuesday.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether the hackers were demanding a ransom and which government services might be affected.

A government spokeswoman did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
