The first week of FIFA World Cup 2022 saw both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo score, in addition to some big upsets in the form of Argentina and Germany lose their first group matches and a huge seven-goal win for Spain.

37 – At 37 years and 292 days, Ronaldo is now the oldest player to score for Portugal at the World Cup. He is also the youngest, having scored in the 2006 World Cup at 21 years and 132 days.
