French President Emmanuel Macron met with billionaire Elon Musk to wrap up his visit to the United States this week.

Macron spent an hour speaking with Musk, the current CEO and owner of Twitter, and the pair discussed a range of topics, from green energy goals to concerns about moderating social media content.

“In accordance with our ambition to decarbonise and reindustrialise France and Europe, I had a discussion today with @elonmusk on future green industrial projects, especially the production of electric vehicles and batteries,” Macron wrote on Twitter of the “clear and honest” talks “. .

The pair met in New Orleans, marking the first French presidential visit to the city since 1976 and only the third since Charles de Gaulle’s famed visit in 1960. Macron has previously met with President Biden and lawmakers, including Kevin McCarthy, on Thursday.
