Brazil vs South Korea Highlights: Sublime Brazil crushes South Korea 4-1 to enter quarterfinals | Football news

NEW DELHI: five times champions Brazil put on a performance worthy of their title of favorites to break into the quarter-finals of the fifa world cup 2022 in Qatar on Tuesday. Brazil has outclassed the South Korea 4-1 in their round of 16 match at Stadium 974 to set up a mouthwatering clash with 2018 runners-up Croatia, who beat Japan 3-1 on penalties on Monday.
The contest was nearly over in the first half, as Brazil instructed Korea with an attacking lesson to take a 4-0 lead at half-time.

Vinicio Jr opened the scoring for Brazil early in the seventh minute, first Neymar he scored his 76th international goal, one behind the all-time record of 77 goals by Peleconverting a penalty in the 13th minute. Richardson he made it 3-0 with a superb team goal in the 29th minute, first Luca Paqueta sealed for them with a fine finish in the 36th minute.
Korea came out with a much better strategy in the second half and kept the Brazilian forwards at bay, helped in part by the South American side’s easing pace. The Asian team’s persistent effort in the second half gave them a consolation goal in the 76th minute, when Paik Seung-ho scored a stunning goal from distance. But it was too little too late for them as their campaign drew to a close.

The world’s most expensive player, Neymar, had missed his side’s last two games after spraining his ankle in their first game in Qatar, a 2-0 win over Serbia.
But he returned for this round of 16 tie as Tite’s side kicked into gear and delivered a menacing message to their rivals, at least before slowing down in the second half.
The five World Cup winners had not scored four goals in a knockout match of the tournament since 1998.
Here they played at times with the joy associated with the Brazilian national team, the players gathered to celebrate each goal by showing off their dance moves and even their coach joined them.

If they have finished playing inside themselves, their performance in the first half was superb and a fitting tribute to the great Pelé.
The Brazilian legend had said he would watch the game from the hospital in Sao Paulo where he was admitted last week due to ongoing treatment for colon cancer, and fans at Doha’s 974 stadium unfurled a banner with a message of healing soon for him.
All of this was a punishing experience for Son Heung-min and South Korea, who have never won a World Cup knockout match outside their own country.
Tite made 10 changes to the Brazilian squad after rotating his squad for the 1-0 defeat to Cameroon which came after qualification for the round of 16 had been secured.
Danilo also returned from injury to left-back, while Eder Militao was the only player to keep his place and moved to right-back.

With Alisson Becker back in goal and Thiago Silva and Marquinhos also on the pitch, this was Brazil’s first choice defence, but their forwards quickly silenced an equalizer.
The lead came from their first shot on goal in the 7th minute when Raphinha swung away from Kim Jin-su down the right and his ball landed on Vinicius’ feet who coldly chose his place.
They then won a penalty when Richarlison was caught by Jung Woo-young and Neymar duly beat Kim Seung-gyu – his last six goals for Brazil have now all come from the penalty spot.
Alisson was then called upon to turn around a vicious long-range strike from Hwang Hee-chan, but Brazil then scored their third goal in style just before the half-hour mark.

Richarlison juggled the ball three times just outside the box before passing it to Marquinhos and then continuing into the box to get to the end of Silva’s pass who scored home for his third goal of this World Cup.
Paqueta then got the fourth nine minutes before the break with an opener that connected with a Vinicius ball held up from the backline.
They could have added more in the second half had they not taken their foot off the pedal, although Raphinha was denied on more than one occasion by the goalkeeper.
Korea deserved credit for hanging on though and were rewarded in the last quarter of an hour when substitute Paik landed a pass with a header and sent in a fierce strike from 25m which blasted Silva away to beat Alisson.
The Brazil goalkeeper was then taken off for the final 10 minutes to be replaced by Weverton, while Neymar was also dropped with Tite’s mind on Croatia.
