More than a dozen migrants fled to Spain on Wednesday after fleeing a plane that made an emergency landing in Barcelona when a pregnant woman on board went into labor, the country’s government says.
The crash at El Prat airport involved a flight from Casablanca, Morocco, to Istanbul, Turkey operated by Pegasus Airlines, according to Reuters.
After the flight landed, 28 migrants managed to escape from the plane, 14 of whom were eventually arrested by police, the news agency said, citing the Spanish government. The other 14 remain missing.
The woman, meanwhile, was seen in a hospital and it was determined that she had not yet gone into labor, the government said.

Five of the captured migrants have been put back on the plane while nine – including the pregnant woman, who was arrested on public disorder charges – will be deported to Morocco, according to the BBC.

The crash follows a similar incident last year on the Spanish island of Majorca in which an Air Arabia flight traveling the same route from Morocco to Istanbul made an emergency landing after a man experienced an apparent medical emergency, reports the BBC.
That individual was later medically cleared, and 12 passengers were able to escape that plane.
