However, it could potentially face competition from the other two 6 and 7 seater cars for sale at this price point: Mahindra XUV700 and Nanny Safaris.

Toyota is offering the new Innova Hycross with two engine options: a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 174PS/205Nm and a 2.0-litre hybrid petrol unit producing 186PS/206Nm Nm of torque. The first is available with CVT automatic transmission as standard, while the strong-hybrid version is only available with e-CVT. No diesel engine is on offer with the new MPV.

XUV700

The XUV700 can be fitted with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 200hp of power and 380Nm of torque, or a 2.2-litre diesel engine generating 155hp and 360Nm in its of lower tuning and 185 hp and 420 Nm in the upper one. Meanwhile, the Tata Safari is only available with a 2.0-litre diesel engine that delivers 170PS of power and 350Nm of torque.
While all three cars here use a monocoque platform with a front-wheel drive setup as standard, Mahindra also offers the diesel XUV700 with an optional all-wheel drive configuration. On the other hand, the Toyota Innova Hycross has an impressive claimed fuel efficiency figure of 21.1 kmpl for the strong-hybrid version.

Meanwhile, pricing for the Toyota Innova Hycross will likely be announced next month. We expect the MPV to be priced between Rs 20-30 lakh.
