The diminutive Ishan now holds the record for the fastest ODI double century, as he took just 126 balls to reach the milestone. He broke Chris Gayle’s record for fastest double century (138 balls) in the format.
India posted a whopping 409 for eight. He was out for 210 in the 36th over Indian innings.

But Ishan, 24, doesn’t seem happy with his record as he complains he missed a golden opportunity to become the format’s first triple centurion.
“I went out with 15 (14.1) overs remaining. I could have had 300 too,” Kishan told broadcasters ‘SonyLiv’ at the innings break.
The Jharkhand southpaw became the fourth batter to score a double cent.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma scored it three times, including his highest ODI score of 264, while Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag scored once each.

“I’m blessed to hear my name between such legends. The wicket was too good to hit. My intention was very clear β if the ball is there, I’ll go for it,” he revealed about its strategy.
His record hit came in the company of Virat Kohli and Kishan credited the Indian star hitter with ‘calming him down’ as he approached his first century.
“I was batting with Virat bhai, and he was on the spot with which bowlers I had to select [to target]. I was on 95 and wanted to go up the hundred with a six but he calmed me down saying it was my first hundred, get it in singles cause it’s your first,” he said.
Kishan is very close with Suryakumar Yadav, who told him to beat before the game started.
“I had a conversation with Surya bhai – he said when you kick before the game you see the ball well. I didn’t put too much pressure on myself. I just wanted to take the opportunity,” said Kishan.
