Meet Abhimanyu Easwaran: The opener who has replaced Rohit Sharma | Cricket News


NEW DELHI: Bengal Veteran National Batter Abhimanyu Easwaran was called up as a replacement for Rohit Sharma for the first test against Bangladesh starting December 14 in Chattogram. Rohit failed to recover from a left thumb injury he suffered in the second ODI in Dhaka.
Easwaran, who was born in Dehradun and moved to Kolkata to pursue his cricketing career when he was just 10 years old, is a national stalwart in Bengal and has been knocking on doors for India for some time now.

In January 2021, he was named as one of India’s five reserve Test squad players for their home series against England.

In May 2021, Easwaran was also named as one of the four reserve players of the India Test Squad for the 2019–21 ICC World Test Championship Final and India away series against India. ‘England. But he hasn’t played for the country yet.

The 27-year-old, who also does occasional leg rotations, was Bengal’s top scorer in 2018-19. Ranji Trophywith 861 runs in six matches, was named captain of Bengal ahead of the 2019-20 season replacing Manoj Tiwary.
Easwaran was named in the India Red squad for the 2019-20 Duleep Trophy and scored 153 points against India Green in the final.
Easwaran also featured in the Hanuma Vihari-led India A team for the 2019–20 Deodhar Trophy.
