
Mahindra has announced that it will invest Rs 10,000 crore to build the EV manufacturing plant in Pune and that the plan has been approved by the Government of Maharashtra under the EV Industrial Promotion Scheme. The production plant will be fully set up in the next 7-8 years.
Speaking on the development, Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director, Auto & Farm Sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said, “We are delighted with this approval from the Government of Maharashtra for the establishment of our EV manufacturing plant in Pune and investment in what has been our ‘home’ state for over 70 years.The government’s focus on ‘ease of doing business’ and progressive policies, coupled with Mahindra’s investment, will act as a catalyst for Maharashtra to become the electric vehicle hub of India, attracting more Indian and foreign direct investment.”

Mahindra’s Born Electric SUVs will feature five models, the XUV.e8 and XUV.e9 are expected to arrive in the initial stage before the all-new BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09 approach production. The SUVs were designed at Mahindra’s Advanced Design Europe (MADE) facility in Oxfordshire, UK under the guidance of Chief Designer, Pratap Bose.
