In his early rap writing days, Snoop Dogg borrowed a typewriter to type out his lyrics.
The US rapper revealed his unlikely writing tool in an episode of The 85 South Comedy Show.
He told the hosts he used to borrow a typewriter from 2Scoops of G-funk group The Dove Shack.
Snoop Dogg he said he’d tried to put his words on paper, but “I’d lose shit.”
Noting that 2Scoops was “organized and shitty”, he concluded that he was “just writing my shit”.
He added, “I was typing about 65 words a minute.”
His revelation prompted laughter and disbelief from the hosts, with one question being “Snoop, did you write raps on a typewriter?” and another commenting “That’s funny.”
Snoop Dogg said he learned to type “in a little white middle school I went to.”
“I was one of those students who — I took a wood class, a metal class, I took a typing class, I took a home economics class. I took courses that were different.
“I didn’t want to just be in class with friends and shit and then go home and get yelled at and get in trouble.”
Snoop Dogg’s appearance on the show follows the release of Mount Westmore’s latest album, Snoop, Cube, 40, $hort. The group consists of hip-hop veterans Too $hort, E-40, Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg.
Earlier this year, Snoop Dogg, real name Calvin Broadus Jr, revealed that he did gave a pay raise to his blunt full-time player due to inflation.
