“The eldest daughter of the Thai king hospitalized with a heart problem”

BANGKOK: The eldest of the Thais King Maha Vajiralongkorn was hospitalized with a heart problem and her condition has stabilized at a certain level, the royal palace said on Thursday. Princess Bajrakitiyabha44, fell ill after losing consciousness on Wednesday in northeastern Nakhon Ratchasima province and was treated at a local hospital.
She was airlifted to Bangkok after her condition stabilized at a certain level, the palace said, without giving further details. The princess is one of three children of King Vajiralongkorn who have official titles, making her eligible for the throne under a 1924 Palace Succession Act and the country’s constitution. King Vajiralongkorn has yet to officially designate an heir since becoming king in 2016 and there has been no official discussion of the prospect of the princess taking the throne.
The princess, who has worked with the UN and served as Thailand’s ambassador to Austria, Slovenia and Slovakia, was taking part in a working dog championship organized by the military when she lost consciousness, the palace said. She was being treated at a Bangkok hospital on Thursday where she was undergoing treatment and check-ups, he added.
While the palace succession law states that the heir to the throne must be a man, a 1974 amendment to the constitution allowed a daughter of royal lineage to ascend the throne if a successor had not been appointed.
