MUMBAI: India skipper Rohit Sharma is likely to return to Bangladesh to lead India for the second and final test match of the two-game series to be played at Mirpur from December 22.
According to sources close to ANI, Rohit Sharma has gone for rehabilitation and will recover in time before the second test match and will fly to Bangladesh for the second test.
India skipper Rohit Sharma missed the third and final ODI against Bangladesh due to a finger injury suffered in the second match and was unable to make it to the current first Test match at Chattogram.
After a special consultation in Mumbai, the medical team discovered that this persistent injury was preventing him from playing, and had even forced him to leave the first Test against Bangladesh, which started on December 14.
KL Rahul managed the Indian Test team in his absence while uncapped hitter Abhimanyu Easwaran replaced him in the team. Easwaran, 27, has played 78 first-class games so far, scoring 5576 points at 45.33.
Not only Rohit Sharma but there were many other cricketers who failed to make it to the Indian squad like Jasprit Bumrah (back), Mohammad Shami (shoulder) and Ravindra Jadeja (knee). These star players did not recover in time and were excluded from both tests.
Navdeep Saini and Saurabh Kumar have been named to replace these players. India also signed fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat to the 17-man squad.
