PARIS: Three dead and four injured, two seriously, after filming near a Kurdish cultural center in center of ParisFrench officials announced on Friday.
The Paris prosecutor’s office clarified that a 69-year-old man was arrested in this context. The motives of the alleged shooter were not immediately clear.
Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau said the alleged attacker was known to authorities. She added that authorities would look into any possible racist element behind the shooting.
Police cordoned off the area in the French capital’s 10th arrondissement and Paris police warned people to stay away from the area.
“A firearm attack has taken place. Thank you to the security forces for their quick action,” tweeted deputy mayor Emmanuel Grégoire. “Thoughts for the victims and those who witnessed this tragedy.”
A witness told French news agency AFP that seven or eight shots were fired, creating chaos in the street.
