Indian archers bag five gold, three silver, one bronze in Asia Cup | More sports News


SHARJAH: India’s junior archers reigned supreme in Asian Cup Stage III as they came away with nine medals, five of them gold here on Sunday.
The biggest medal haul came from the compound section where Indian archers won seven out of eight medals up for grabs, including a clean sweep in the women’s individual section where Pragati, Aditi Swami and Parneet Kaur took the first three places.
Priyanch and Ojas Deotale gold and silver bagged in the individual compound section.

India’s compound archers also dominated the team events in the men’s and women’s sections, beating Korea en route to gold medals.
It was only in the compound mixed doubles event that India came back empty-handed after the duo of Ojas and Pragati went down to Vietnam in the quarter-finals.

In the recurve section, India bagged a gold medal and a silver. The men’s team Akash Mrinal Chauhan and Parth Salunkhe won the gold medal beating Korea.
Tisha Punia and Salunkhe settled for a silver medal after losing to Chinese Taipei’s Kai-Han Yang and Szu-Min Su in the mixed team recurve event.
In total, India came away with five gold, three silver and one bronze.
