‘I’m going nowhere’, Steve Smith dampens down retirement talk | Cricket News

SYDNEY: Australian drummer Steve Smith tempered talk of his retirement on Friday after suggesting he was by no means certain he would continue playing test cricket next season.
The 33-year-old former captain scored his 30th Test hundred on day two of the Third Test against South Africa on Thursday, overtaking Donald Bradman in the list of Australian centenarian makers.
Admitting his comments at a press conference after the day’s play was deliberately “enigmatic”, Smith said he had no immediate plans to hang up his bat.
“I’m not going anywhere, I’m comfortable with where everything is,” Smith told Fox Sports before the start of day three of the final test.
“We have some good tours coming up. I’m excited and always trying to improve.
“So while I have this thirst and this desire to try to get better, and especially to help some of the younger hitters get through, while I’m doing all of that, I’m having fun and not I have no retirement plans.
