India equal England’s T20I record with big win over Sri Lanka | Cricket News


NEW DELHI: India put in an all-around performance to outclass Sri Lanka in all aspects of the game to seal a massive 91-point victory in the third and final T20I in Rajkot on Saturday.
With the win, India won the three-game series 2-1 and kept their winning record in all bilateral T20I series intact against Sri Lanka.
India also extended their two-way T20I winning streak at home to 12. India last lost a two-way T20I home winning streak to Australia in 2019.

Victory against Sri Lanka also allowed India to equalize England in the list of most wins against a single opponent in the T20I. India recorded their 19th win over Lanka in 29 matches while England also have 19 wins (one Super Over win) to their name in the same number of matches against Pakistan.
Pakistan sits third on the list with 18 wins in 29 games followed by India’s 17 wins in 25 games against West Indies.
On the front of the game, Suryakumar Yadav, the T20’s top-ranked batsman, took 112 steps, hitting seven fours and nine sixes in his display of 51 balls as India set Sri Lanka a target of 229 after picking to beat first.
In the process, Surya also became the first player to hit three T20I centuries outside the opening slot.
In response, Sri Lanka were knocked out for 137 as Arshdeep Singh bagged three wickets, while Hardik PandyaOmran Malik and Yuzvendra Chahal took two wickets each.
