Oscar Mayer is currently recruiting the next class of drivers for his iconic Wienermobile.
The year-long “Hot Dogger” gig is available to a group of recent college graduates, according to a press release from Oscar Mayer. Each selected driver will visit more than 20 states in the hot dog-shaped vehicle, travel more than 200,000 miles, serve as a spokesperson for Oscar Mayer at more than 200 events a year, and document their journeys on social media. .
There are a total of 12 Wienermobile driver positions available for 2023, according to Oscar Mayer. And the competition is fierce: in recent years, less than 1% of candidates have been selected.
Ideal candidates are “outgoing, creative, friendly, enthusiastic, college-educated seniors who have an appetite for adventure and are ready to see the country through the windshield of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile,” says the company in an online job posting. A bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, communications, advertising or marketing is a plus.
And the role may be meatier than it first appears. In addition to driving the Wienermobile around the country, the drivers will also act as Oscar Mayer’s brand ambassadors, running promotions and representing the company’s meat products at talks and events.
The job posting says the full-time position comes with a “competitive salary” and that expenses, benefits and team apparel will be covered by Oscar Mayer.
