The 2023 FIS Para Snowboard World Championships have been postponed due to a lack of snow.

In a press release, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) specifies that the competition, which was to take place this month in La Molina in the Spanish Pyrenees, will now be held from March 9 to 18 at the same place.

“Unusually warm temperatures across much of central Europe over the holidays have created a current critical snow situation in La Molina, forcing competitions to be postponed,” the statement said.

“The FIS would like to take this opportunity to thank the Organizing Committee for their flexibility and determination to organize a top-level world championship for para snowboard athletes.”

The FIS said the World Para-Nordic and Alpine Skiing Championships are still scheduled to take place later this month in Oestersund, Sweden, and Espot, Spain, respectively.

Winter sports have been hit this month due to mild conditions across Europe, with World Cup events canceled in the Italian, Austrian and Swiss Alps.
