Fighting is still raging in Soledar, a salt mining town in eastern Ukraine, despite Russian claims that it has taken control of the area. If Russian troops capture the city, it would mark Moscow’s first gain in Donbass in months, potentially handing President Vladimir Putin a symbolic victory after a string of battlefield defeats.
