On road to recovery, Mitchell Marsh hopes to be fit for India ODI series | Cricket News

MELBOURNE: All-round Australian star Mitchell Marsh is targeting a return in the highly anticipated ODI series against India in March after undergoing surgery on his struggling ankle.

He has now started his recovery and made his first race on Wednesday as he hoped to be on the plane to India for the ODIs.
“First race session today. It was really nice to get back to that. It was quite easy but quite difficult. I have a bit of work to do. Hopefully (I) will be back playing in five or six weeks,” Marsh told ‘Fox Cricket’.
“I’m looking forward to it. It’s the last national day for us and then I’ll be skydiving for another final which will be great,” he said, adding that he was considering a comeback for the WA final one day. season.
Marsh last played an international game in November against England.
Another Australian all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell, who broke his left fibula, is also battling to prove his suitability for the India tour, although his chances are less likely than Marsh.
Maxwell said he was assessing his progress week by week and it seemed less likely he would return for the Melbourne Stars before the BBL ended.
“We have the India Test tour coming up and I was super pumped to prepare for it. Whether or not I’m on it, only time will tell,” Maxwell said.
“But I’ve done everything in my power to try to prepare myself and get back to playing. There’s still a long way to go,” he added.
Australia will kick off their India tour with the four-Test series starting in Nagpur from February 9. They will next play three ODIs in Mumbai (March 17), Visakhapatnam (March 19) and Chennai (March 22).
