RAIPUR: In a big boost for Mumbai, opener Yashasvi Jaiswalwho missed the last two matches due to gastroenteritis, is fit and available for the Ranji Trophy’s final league match against Maharashtra, which kicks off at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai from January 24.
“Yashasvi’s fitness test reports are correct. He is fit to play according to Mumbai team doctor, Parteki and coach Vishal Chitrakar. And hence, the selectors have mutually agreed to add Yashasvi in the ‘team,’ a source at MCA told TOI.
Jaiswal will open against Maharashtra with Divyaansh Saxena, who received his young daughter Ranji Trophy call-up, replacing Musheer Khan in the Mumbai squad.
“Musheer was invited to play the next match for the U-25 team which starts from Sunday. He got five sets but failed to capitalize on his chances. Divyaansh scored 250 against Saurashtra for U-25 team against Saurashtra in Col CK Nayudu trophy recently.This kind of form cannot be ignored.Prithvi (Shaw) not available (he will be with India team T20 for home series against New Zealand), Mumbai needs someone to give them a good start,” a source told TOI.
On Friday, Mumbai lost its penultimate Ranji Trophy league game against Delhi by eight wickets. They have 23 points after six games and need to score at least one first-leg lead win against Maharashtra to hope to advance to the knockout stages.
